I finally get to meet him tomorrow!!!
Near the end of May, I was able to travel to Vancouver, Canada for my national conference, NAFSA: Association of International Educators. Check us out: http://www.nafsa.org/.
Canada is a beautiful place. Breathtaking really...We were able to be in Vancouver for game one of the Stanley Cup. Now, it is important to know that I have NEVER watched a hockey match ever...in my entire life. Canadians all over shed a tear when I made sure they knew that in Georgia, we could care less about hockey. In fact, we care so little about it that our team moved to Winnipeg...CANADA. Thankfully, we were not in Vancouver for the dreaded last game of the Cup. Who knows what would have happened...maybe I would have been able to kick the windows in on a car or set fire to a trashcan. I don't care what people say about College Football, we do not riot and trash cars when we lose. The end.
im not so sure why you get to see this lovely gray stripe. my apologies.
Making "grown-up" friends has been the topic of conversation lately amongst most of the folks I know in Athens in their mid-20's. I think it's a bit more difficult if you don't live in the same town where you went to college. It's almost like dating....but way worse. And if I'm being honest, I was a terrible "dater." So, prayerfully, the hubs and I are working on the fun task of making new friends. Please don't think we are pitiful....we're not. We have such wonderful folks surrounding us all the time....but it's a very accurate description- dating=grown-up-friend-making.
This is one of my newest and dearest-who is not moving away in 2-4 months.
Ms. Alice Ballenger......Anderson, SC. Yeah, we grew up only 15 minutes away from each other.
That's it for now...maybe I'll be a bit more frequent.
Ooh ooh...I'm going here in July. "Geeeeeeeeeee....!!!" she said!
Beijing, China
Muah from Athens, GA!

ahhhhh you blogged! Yippee :)
I love Alice!!!!! So much good stuff in one blog it was overload.
so glad to have you back here in blogland... and don't feel alone in your quest to find grown-up friends. truthfully, jordan and i are still trying hard in that area. it's so tough! and, tallahassee is kind of a transient town (once people graduate or finish their grad degree, they leave), making things all the worse. i've made some girl friends through work & book club/dinner parties, but couple friends are harder. i'm thinking of starting a cooking club in the fall to help...
Judd and I are still trying to find friends too. I agree it's very hard. We have one couple that we have gotten close to and we're thankful to have them. It's hard to find friends in small towns where people our age aren't really coming. I know how you feel! :)
