A Little Makeover...

From this lovely, rich, warm, caramel color...

To this perfectly cool, calm, airy, blue color...

To this perfectly Ashley room...

I made the lamp shade and bulletin board to match. Bulletin board covered with burlap, first.
This room will be our primary guest room.

I got this floral arrangement for $3 at The Potter's House. The basket was our flower girl basket from the wedding, made of birch tree bark.
Some friends from college gave me this chest a long time ago. It was repainted, given new knobs, and topped with an old mirror we had, painted white.

I've had this for almost 11 years....wow. It goes perfectly. The jar is from our wedding...and the camera was $10 at The Potter's House.
My hubby hunner and I will be creating a headboard this weekend. More on that later...
The tray was an old black plastic GROSS tray with flowers painted in middle from The Re-Store, Habitat for Humanity. It took me 30 minutes to Goof-Off it, but it came clean, cost a $1, and is now a lovely glossy white with distressed wood scrapbooking paper modge-podged to the inside. I love it.
Here's a better shot of the lampshade and bulletin board. I also got this incredible "Necktie" box (yes, it says Neckties on the top) from a store in Athens called Agora. It's incredible. Look her up on Facebook. This box is from the 1920's!!

This one's a little blurry, but I put it on here to show you my fun $2 creation. The box was purple with big, ugly butterflies on the sides. The grass was just hanging out on a shelf, by it's lonesome at the Potter's House. It will be my pen and skizzor holder. I love it
We've had so much fun with this room. After we finish the headboard, it's on to another.
The master suite....light gray, seafoam, teal, black. With a few special touches. I'll keep you updated on our progress.
much love & happy hump day,
mrs. j.

I love the new room! It's so beautiful! I hope that one day when I own my own house (and have more money) I can make a guest room look just as good as this one! Until then I'll just decorate with what I've got and without paint.
